MIRP UPDATE:

Our Second 2009 Statewide Immigrant Rights Summit was a great day!  More than 100 Immigrant advocates, attorneys, and others with an interest in immigrant rights participated in the November 19, 2009 Statewide Immigrant Rights Summit II:  Building an Effective Coalition, sponsored by the Michigan Immigrant Rights Project (MIRP) with the support of the Arcus Foundation.  At Summit I in March of this year, immigrant advocates and service providers came together to share information and insights about the work we are doing.  Summit II featured presentations by Fred Tsao of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and by former Michigan House Majority Floor Leader Steve Tobocman.  The rest of the day was an opportunity for every attendee to actively participate in discussions about resources, priorities, coordination of advocacy, service delivery, and critical issues facing Michigan's immigrant communities.
